In North Carolina about 45 minutes east of Raleigh and and hour and a half west of the coast, The Town of Selma, is host to among other things, a myriad of quaint antique shops, an original train depot from the 1800’s that is still in use and an old mill set in a picturesque landscape. The town came to the graphic design department at Wake County Technical School, requesting assistance in respect to updating their town logo. The new logo should reflect the town’s heritage as well as provide a more modern image, that is still appropriate for the character of the town.

Each student of Tyler Dockery’s, GRD.241, Graphic Design III, course is to work their way from drawing up 50 different sketches of possible logo ideas, to a single, refined, poignant logo that will be considered to present to Selma as a choice for their new logo.
My first step in this process, the 50 sketches of Selma logo concepts.
